On January 1, 2018 CHC implemented a smoke-free policy as we transition to provide smoke-free housing options for residents of Windsor and Essex County.
When you sign a lease with CHC, you will agree not to smoke in your home or anywhere within 9 metres (9) away from any windows, doors, vents, entrances or exits.
If you were a resident prior to January 1, 2018 and have not moved out since, you will be able to continue to smoke in your leased premises (inside your home, on your balcony, and in your enclosed backyard). You must not smoke anywhere within nine (9) metres away from any windows, doors, vents, entrances or exits.
You may also choose to opt-in by signing a no-smoking agreement at any time. Call your District Manager or speak with your Community Relations Worker to learn more.
Transitioning to smoke-free buildings for all our CHC neighbourhoods and communities will take time as existing residents will still be able to smoke in their existing unit.
All residents are required to comply with the restriction on smoking outside on CHC property and existing restrictions related to smoking in common areas.
